North Carolina – Heat is building fast across Raleigh this afternoon, with bright sun and dry air pushing temperatures toward 88°F and setting the tone for a multi-day stretch of near-record warmth.

According to the National Weather Service, Raleigh-Durham International Airport is seeing mostly sunny skies with light southwest winds, and temperatures will surge to 92°F by Wednesday. Humidity remains moderate, but the lack of rain and steady sunshine will allow heat to intensify through the end of the week.

The hottest stretch arrives late week into the weekend. Highs hold near 91°F Thursday and 90°F Friday before peaking around 94°F Saturday across Wake County, Cary, and surrounding communities. Roads like I-40 and I-440 will radiate heat during peak afternoon hours, making conditions feel even warmer for drivers and outdoor workers.

Unlike areas farther north, storm chances remain limited through Friday. This dry pattern increases the risk of dehydration and heat-related stress, especially during prolonged outdoor activity. Keep water nearby and take breaks in shaded areas during the afternoon.

Clear skies at night will offer some relief, with lows dropping into the mid-60s, but homes without cooling may still retain daytime heat.

Looking ahead, slight rain chances return by Sunday, bringing a modest cooldown into early next week. Until then, the focus stays on building heat and dry conditions across central North Carolina.

Five Day Outlook for Raleigh, NC
Today: Mostly sunny, high near 88°F
Tonight: Mostly clear, low around 64°F
Wednesday: Sunny, high near 92°F
Thursday: Partly sunny, high near 91°F
Friday: Sunny, high near 90°F
