Waupaca, WI – Residents near the Little Wolf River face a critical flooding threat early Tuesday as pressure builds on the Manawa Dam, raising concerns about a possible failure within hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday due to the potential failure of the Manawa Dam in Waupaca County. Between 4 and 5 inches of rain has already fallen overnight, pushing the dam to capacity and increasing the خطر of sudden water release downstream.

Communities including Manawa, New London, and Waupaca are most at risk, particularly in low-lying areas along the Little Wolf River. Streets, homes, and nearby infrastructure could see rapid flooding if the dam gives way. Additional flooding concerns remain in place countywide until 7 a.m. as rivers and creeks continue to rise from excessive rainfall.

Emergency officials urge residents in flood-prone areas to stay alert and be ready to move to higher ground quickly. Drivers should avoid flooded roads, especially in rural and low-visibility areas during the early morning hours.

The situation remains volatile through mid-morning, and warnings could be issued with little notice if conditions worsen.
