Hobart, IN – Three people were arrested after Hobart police executed a search warrant at a residence Tuesday following a narcotics investigation into what authorities described as a nuisance house.
According to the Hobart Police Department, its Narcotics Unit executed the warrant in the 1600 block of Brookview Court. Police said the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office accepted charges against three Hobart residents following the investigation.
Michael Devault, 35, faces two counts of unlawful carrying of a handgun as a felon, a Level 5 felony, along with a Level 5 felony methamphetamine possession charge, police said. He also faces additional felony and misdemeanor charges involving a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance, handguns, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Ashelynn Mance, 34, was charged with Level 6 felony counts of methamphetamine possession, unlawful possession of a syringe and maintaining a common nuisance, according to police. She also faces misdemeanor marijuana and paraphernalia charges.
Joel Martin, 40, faces Level 6 felony charges of maintaining a common nuisance and unlawful possession of a syringe, along with a misdemeanor paraphernalia charge, police said.
Authorities did not provide additional details about the quantities of suspected drugs seized or specify whether firearms were recovered during Tuesday’s search.
Hobart police said properties associated with ongoing drug activity can create broader safety concerns for neighborhoods, including increased traffic, disturbances, potential violence and discarded drug paraphernalia.
Residents with information about narcotics or suspicious activity can contact the Hobart Police Department. Police said tipsters may remain anonymous.
All charges are allegations. The three defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
