Albany, New York – Residents across eastern New York and western New England should keep an umbrella nearby today as scattered showers continue to move through the region. While there will be breaks of sunshine throughout the day, passing showers could briefly interrupt outdoor plans from the Adirondacks to the Hudson Valley and into southern Vermont and western Massachusetts.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, clouds will gradually mix with periods of sunshine as afternoon temperatures climb into the lower to middle 70s across most communities. Highs are expected to range from 70 degrees near Hunter, 71 in Poughkeepsie, 72 in Pittsfield, 73 in Albany, Bennington, Rutland, Lebanon, and Keene, 75 in Cobleskill, 76 in Glens Falls, and 78 degrees around Herkimer.
Scattered showers will be most common across portions of the Adirondacks, southern Vermont, the Capital Region, the mid-Hudson Valley, and northwestern Connecticut. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, brief downpours may create slick roads and reduced visibility on Interstates 87, 88, and 90, along with surrounding state highways.
Drivers should allow extra travel time during passing showers and remain alert for changing road conditions. Outdoor events can continue in many locations between showers, but it is a good idea to have a shelter option available if rain develops nearby.
