Cincinnati, Ohio – Pop-up thunderstorms could disrupt the evening commute across southwest Ohio today, with some cells capable of producing sudden strong wind gusts.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop through the afternoon and early evening under unseasonably warm conditions. While coverage will remain uneven, any storm that forms could briefly intensify, especially between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

High temperatures are expected to reach the upper 70s to near 80 degrees across much of the state, including Dayton, Cincinnati, and Chillicothe. The combination of warmth and instability may allow a few storms to produce gusty winds strong enough to down small branches or create isolated power disruptions.

Drivers along I-71, I-75, and I-70 should be prepared for sudden downpours and reduced visibility, particularly during peak travel hours. Because storms will be scattered, some neighborhoods may stay completely dry while others see brief heavy rain.

Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions this afternoon. Storm activity will diminish later this evening, but additional updates may be issued if stronger cells develop.
