Binghamton, NY – A wet and unsettled weather pattern will continue across southern New York through Thursday before warmer and sunnier conditions arrive for the weekend and early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected overnight into Wednesday morning across the Binghamton area, with additional thunderstorms possible during the afternoon and evening hours. Some storms may produce brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds as temperatures climb near 66 degrees Wednesday afternoon.

Forecasters say rain chances remain elevated Wednesday night with additional showers and thunderstorms continuing before gradually tapering early Thursday morning. Rainfall totals between a quarter and half inch are possible in stronger thunderstorms.

Thursday will remain cooler with scattered showers lingering mainly during the morning hours. Skies are expected to gradually improve later in the day with highs near 60 degrees across Broome County and surrounding portions of the Southern Tier.

Drier weather settles into the region Friday with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 66 degrees before a significant warmup arrives for the weekend. Saturday is forecast to turn mostly sunny with highs near 79 degrees, while Sunday climbs into the lower 80s under mostly sunny skies.

The warmest temperatures of the forecast period arrive early next week. Monday could reach near 89 degrees, while Tuesday may climb into the lower 90s alongside a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms.
