Aurora, IL – A deadly wrong-way crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 88 in DuPage County left three people dead and temporarily shut down the highway.

According to Illinois State Police, the crash was reported around 4 a.m. Sunday on the westbound lanes of I-88 near milepost 112.25 in Aurora, located within the western suburbs of the Chicago metro area. Police said the wrong-way vehicle was occupied solely by the driver, while the second vehicle had two occupants. All three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities pending family notification.
