Boise, Idaho – Travel across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho could become difficult at times during the April 1–7 period as gusty winds and rounds of rain spread across the Pacific Northwest and inland corridors, impacting major routes including I-5, I-84, and U.S. 95.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, this region remains in an active weather pattern with near to slightly above-normal precipitation and an elevated risk of gusty winds, especially across eastern Oregon and southern Idaho.

Wind gusts between 45 and 60 mph are possible, particularly through the Columbia River Gorge, across eastern Oregon, and into southern Idaho cities like Boise and Twin Falls. These winds could create hazardous driving conditions for high-profile vehicles, especially along I-84, where crosswinds are often strongest.

Rainfall will occur in waves, with light to moderate showers moving inland from the Pacific. Western Washington and Oregon, including Seattle and Portland, will see more consistent rainfall, while Idaho experiences more intermittent showers.

Mountain areas, including the Cascades and higher terrain in Idaho, may see periods of heavier precipitation, briefly impacting travel through passes with reduced visibility and slick roads.

Drivers should use caution on wet roads, allow extra stopping distance, and remain alert for sudden wind gusts, especially on bridges and exposed highways.

This unsettled pattern will persist through April 1–7, with additional advisories possible as systems continue moving across the Northwest.
