Minneapolis, Minnesota – Temperatures will swing sharply across Minnesota this week, with a warm-up into the 60s and 70s followed by a quick cooldown that will impact the Thursday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, highs will reach the low to mid-50s today under mostly cloudy skies before climbing into the 60s statewide Wednesday, with some western areas nearing 70°F. This brief warm stretch ends early Thursday as a cold front moves through the region.
Rain chances increase early Thursday morning, especially across central Minnesota, including Minneapolis and St. Paul, with breezy conditions developing as temperatures begin falling through the day. Highs Thursday may start near 60°F but drop into the 40s by afternoon, creating noticeably cooler conditions along I-94 and I-35.
By Friday, drier air returns with mostly sunny skies, but highs will remain cooler in the low to mid-40s. Overnight lows through the period will range from the 20s to upper 30s, keeping mornings chilly.
Residents should prepare for changing conditions late Wednesday into Thursday, including gusty winds and falling temperatures. Additional updates may be issued as the cold front approaches.
