Michigan, Marquette – Snowflakes streak sideways in a cold wind while a thin glaze forms on untreated roads, turning early travel slick across the Upper Peninsula right now.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, mixed precipitation is spreading west to east this morning, with a 60–80% chance of light icing across central and western Upper Michigan. Snow may reach up to 3 inches in Keweenaw and Luce counties, while Marquette sees lighter totals but higher risk of ice.

Roads along US-41, M-28, and local streets may turn slippery quickly through midday. Temperatures climb toward 42°F this afternoon, shifting snow to rain and creating wet pavement. Plan extra time and avoid sudden braking.

By late afternoon into evening, another round of mixed precipitation develops as a cold front pushes south. As temperatures fall toward 27°F tonight, wet roads may refreeze into black ice. Bridges and shaded areas will freeze first. Keep vehicles spaced out and watch for changing conditions.

Sunday remains colder with highs near 30°F and lingering snow showers early. Gusty winds up to 30 mph may reduce visibility at times. Conditions stabilize briefly Monday with sunshine and highs near 34°F.

By Tuesday, another round of rain and snow returns, with temperatures near 38°F. Slushy roads could develop again, especially during the afternoon commute.

Looking ahead, gradual warming continues midweek, but near-freezing nights keep icy risks in play.
