Houston, Texas – A surge of early-season heat is expected to build across Texas and Louisiana, with increasing humidity and storm chances developing later in the period heading into early April.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the 8-to-14 day outlook from Friday, March 27 through Thursday, April 2 shows a strong signal for above-normal temperatures across both states, along with a growing potential for increased moisture and rainfall, especially closer to the Gulf Coast.

In southeast Texas, including Houston and Beaumont, daytime highs are expected to climb into the upper 80s and low 90s, with humidity levels rising. This combination could make conditions feel warmer, particularly during afternoon hours.

Across Louisiana, including Shreveport and Lake Charles, a similar warming trend is expected, with sustained above-normal temperatures and increasingly humid conditions.

Late in the period, moisture from the Gulf may begin to surge northward, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms across eastern Texas and much of Louisiana. While widespread severe weather is not the primary signal, brief heavy downpours and localized travel impacts are possible along I-10, I-20, and US-59.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, monitor changing weather conditions, and prepare for periods of rain later in the stretch.

This pattern is expected to continue into early April, with additional updates likely as heat and storm chances become clearer.
