Nebraska Weather Alert Today: Dense Fog to 1/4 Mile and Drizzle in Hastings This Morning

Nebraska drivers are navigating pockets of dense fog and light drizzle this morning, with visibility dropping near a quarter mile in spots west of Hastings. Headlights glow against damp pavement along Highway 281 as low clouds hang stubbornly overhead.

Temperatures sit near 41 degrees under overcast skies. According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, patchy fog may linger through mid-morning before gradual clearing begins. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for several western counties, where visibility has dipped to 1/4 mile or less.

Conditions improve this afternoon. Highs climb to 54 degrees with partial sunshine and light south winds. Still, any lingering moisture could create slick patches early, especially on rural roads and bridges.

Thursday turns breezy and much warmer. Highs surge to 65 degrees, with gusts approaching 30 mph. By late Thursday night, showers and thunderstorms develop. Some storms could produce hail up to the size of quarters and wind gusts near 60 mph.

Showers likely continue into Friday, with highs again near 65 degrees. A few stronger storms may brush eastern portions of the area. Stay weather-aware if traveling toward York or Lincoln.

Sunshine returns Saturday with a high near 54. Sunday warms further to 69 degrees under bright skies. Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8, bringing longer daylight and stronger March sun.

Early next week trends even milder. Highs reach the mid-70s by Monday before slight rain chances return Tuesday.
