New York wakes up to a biting 9 degrees and a quiet, pale sky over Binghamton, but change is already building. Breath hangs in the air. Side streets remain crusted from past melt and refreeze cycles. Any leftover moisture could turn slick again early today.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, sunshine increases through the day with a high near 32 degrees. Calm wind helps, but the cold lingers. Clouds thicken tonight as temperatures fall back near 19 degrees. That sets the stage for a mixed bag Tuesday.

A chance of snow develops after midmorning Tuesday, mainly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Highs reach 37 degrees. Little or no accumulation is expected, but wet flakes could briefly coat grassy areas. Rain becomes steadier late day into Tuesday night as temperatures hold in the mid-30s. Plan for damp roads along I-81 and Route 17.

By Wednesday, the pattern shifts. Highs jump to 50 degrees with only a slight chance of a passing shower. Rain chances increase again Wednesday night into Thursday, with highs climbing into the mid-50s. That’s a noticeable March rebound.

Remember, flash freezing remains a risk this time of year. Melted snow during the day can refreeze after sunset, creating black ice. Slow down on bridges and shaded hills.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday. We gain nearly 90 more minutes of daylight this month across upstate New York. Even warmer air builds late week into the 6–10 day outlook, signaling early Spring warmth.

Five Day Outlook for Binghamton, New York:

Monday: Becoming sunny. High 32°F.
Tuesday: Snow chance late morning, then rain. High 37°F.
Wednesday: Slight chance of rain. High 50°F.
Thursday: Rain likely. High 54°F.
Friday: Chance of rain. High 54°F.
