California – Mist and patchy fog are cutting visibility to less than a mile near San Diego International this morning, softening the skyline and slowing traffic along I-5 and Harbor Drive. The gray start won’t last, but drivers should use low beams and allow extra space through mid-morning.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, fog clears before 10 a.m., giving way to sunshine and a high near 79 degrees. Light winds turn northwest this afternoon, with occasional gusts near 20 mph. Once the marine layer lifts, the air quickly warms.

Friday brings the peak of this spring tease. Highs surge to 85 degrees under full sunshine. That’s well above late-February averages and will feel more like early summer than late winter. Stay hydrated if spending extended time outdoors.

Clouds increase Friday night, and Saturday turns partly sunny with a high near 82. By Sunday, temperatures ease back to 74 under mostly sunny skies. Nights cool into the upper 50s, offering more comfortable sleeping weather.

March begins on a quieter note. Monday trends mostly cloudy early, then gradual clearing with highs near 70. Temperatures hover in the low 70s into midweek. Longer-range outlooks suggest near to slightly above-normal warmth continuing into early March across coastal Southern California.

While storms track across the Gulf Coast and snow impacts parts of the Northern Plains, San Diego remains dry and mild. No rain is expected locally through the weekend.

Five Day Outlook for San Diego, California:
Today: Patchy fog, then sunny, high 79.
Friday: Sunny, high 85.
Saturday: Partly sunny, high 82.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, high 74.
Monday: Mostly cloudy, then clearing, high 70.
