Columbia, SC – Temperatures across the Midlands and Central Savannah River Area are beginning a warming trend Monday, with springlike conditions expected by Tuesday before rain chances increase later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, high temperatures will steadily rise, reaching the low to mid-70s on Tuesday, marking the warmest day of the week. Monday will be cooler by comparison, with highs in the mid-50s, before warming sharply overnight into Tuesday.

Rain chances are expected to remain low through Tuesday, providing several days of dry weather across central South Carolina and eastern Georgia. Forecast data shows rain chances at or near zero Monday and Tuesday, making for favorable travel and outdoor conditions.

By midweek, changes begin to arrive. The National Weather Service indicates rain chances increase Wednesday, with probabilities rising to around 50 percent, before briefly decreasing again Thursday. Rain chances then rise heading into the weekend, reaching 40 percent Friday and up to 70 percent by Saturday.

High temperatures are forecast to trend downward after Tuesday, with highs falling into the upper 60s Wednesday, the low 60s Thursday, and the low to mid-50s by Friday and Saturday.

Major travel corridors including I-26, I-20, I-77, and US-1 will see mostly dry conditions through midweek, before the potential for wet roads increases later Thursday and into the weekend.

Commuters, students, and outdoor workers may notice the contrast between the warm and dry early-week conditions and the cooler, wetter pattern expected by the weekend.

The National Weather Service advises residents to take advantage of the dry weather early in the week and remain aware of updated forecasts as rain chances increase during the second half of the workweek.
