Seattle, Washington – A colder and more unsettled weather pattern is expected to take hold across Washington by Thursday, with temperatures slipping below seasonal averages and an increased likelihood of rain and mountain snow affecting daily travel and outdoor plans statewide.

According to the National Weather Service and NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, the 8–14 day outlook from Friday through the middle of next week favors below-normal temperatures across much of Washington. Daytime highs are projected to run several degrees under typical mid-February levels, keeping lowland areas cool while reinforcing snow potential in the Cascades.

Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, Olympia, and the Puget Sound region fall within the cooler-than-average signal, while eastern Washington also trends colder, especially overnight. Morning lows near or below freezing could lead to slick spots on untreated roads, bridges, and shaded surfaces.

Precipitation probabilities are above average statewide during this period. Repeated systems are expected to bring frequent rain to western Washington and accumulating snow to higher elevations, including Snoqualmie Pass, Stevens Pass, and White Pass. WSDOT cautions that mountain travel could be slowed by periods of snow, reduced visibility, and chain requirements.

The colder, wetter pattern is expected to persist into the middle of next week. Residents should monitor updated advisories and pass reports, as additional alerts may be issued with each incoming system and snow levels fluctuate.
