San Diego, Calif. – Patchy fog will blanket parts of San Diego County late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, bringing slower commutes and limited visibility along I-5, I-8, and coastal routes. Drivers should allow extra time and use low beams, as fog is expected to linger until late morning before skies clear.

According to the National Weather Service, fog will thicken overnight with lows near 70 degrees. By Thursday afternoon, sunshine will return with highs reaching 81, and west winds up to 10 mph. The clear, dry afternoons signal a shift toward early fall weather, though mornings will remain damp and cloudy.

Areas along the coast, including downtown San Diego, La Jolla, and National City, will see the most morning impact. Inland communities such as El Cajon and Poway will warm faster once fog lifts. Visitors planning beach trips should expect cooler water temperatures and cloud cover until late morning.

Friday and Saturday will bring mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s, ideal for outdoor plans and Friday night football. Cooler evenings will follow, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-60s. Patchy fog may return by early next week, keeping mornings damp.

Conditions are stable with no major storm systems expected, but drivers should prepare for reduced visibility during the late-night and early-morning hours.
