Shreveport, Louisiana – Heavy rainfall moving into the Four State Region late Thursday is expected to bring dangerous flash flooding to parts of Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma through Friday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Flood Watch is in effect for the northern half of the region, including cities such as Texarkana, Shreveport, Tyler, and De Queen. Rain totals of 2–3 inches are likely across most areas, with isolated pockets potentially reaching 4–6 inches. The heaviest rain is expected late Thursday night into early Friday morning.
Motorists should avoid low-lying roads and allow extra time for morning commutes. Localized flooding may impact key routes including I-20, U.S. 59, and rural highways where runoff from nearby creeks and rivers is anticipated. Emergency officials urge residents to monitor weather alerts, especially in flood-prone zones.
This marks one of the region’s more widespread summer flood watches in recent months, fueled by a stalled system drawing deep Gulf moisture. Areas along the TX/LA border, including Natchitoches, Monroe, and Longview, are especially vulnerable to flash flooding during intense downpours.
The Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon, with additional advisories possible if rainfall rates intensify overnight.
