DETROIT, Mich. – Scattered thunderstorms may roll through Southeast Michigan this afternoon, bringing brief downpours but no severe weather. The bigger story is a cold front dropping into the region Sunday, setting up a stretch of cooler-than-normal temperatures that will last into midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, today’s highs will reach the low 80s before cooler air settles in. By Sunday, highs fall to the mid-70s, with morning lows dipping into the 50s. Showers remain possible Sunday and Monday, with chances ranging from 25 to 40 percent.
Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Monroe could see light rain during the morning commute early next week. While flooding or severe weather is not a concern, drivers should be prepared for wet roads and brief visibility reductions.
Temperatures will struggle to hit 70 Monday and Tuesday, with some areas holding in the upper 60s. By Wednesday, skies clear and highs rebound to the mid-70s, still cooler than late August averages.
Residents should keep umbrellas handy and plan for jacket weather in the mornings. Additional updates may be issued if rain chances increase.
