Tulsa, Okla. – Thunderstorms are set to return Sunday evening across eastern Oklahoma, bringing possible heavy rain, wet roads, and slower travel. Drivers along I-44 through Tulsa should expect delays and limited visibility during downpours. Residents are urged to plan for changing conditions Sunday night into early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, rain chances climb late Sunday after sunset. Thunderstorms could intensify overnight, dropping heavy rain across Tulsa County and surrounding areas. By Monday, showers remain likely with thunder possible. Temperatures will hold in the mid-70s under cloudy skies, keeping conditions damp for the morning commute.

The risk doesn’t end Monday. Additional rounds of rain are expected Tuesday and Wednesday, with a 50–60% chance of showers each day. That means drivers, especially along Highway 75 and the Broken Arrow Expressway, should stay alert for ponding water and possible lane closures during rush hours. Power outages remain possible if storms carry stronger winds.

Residents should keep phones charged, avoid flooded intersections, and allow extra travel time on wet pavement. Light winds out of the northeast and southeast will shift as the system passes, keeping conditions unsettled.

Rain chances taper by late week, with Thursday and Friday both showing a 50% chance of scattered showers before drier weather edges in.

Warnings could be issued if storms strengthen, so staying tuned to updates through early Wednesday is advised.
