GAYLORD, Mich. – Cloudy skies and patchy drizzle will linger across northern Michigan tonight, keeping lows in the mid-50s to around 60 before drier conditions move in Wednesday. Sunshine is expected to return during the day, offering a brief stretch of warmer weather midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, temperatures will climb into the 70s and low 80s Wednesday and Thursday, with mostly sunny skies holding through the end of the workweek. By Friday afternoon, however, showers and isolated storms will return, bringing the first signs of a weekend cool down.

Communities across northern lower Michigan, including Traverse City, Petoskey, and Gaylord, should plan for outdoor activities early in the week before wetter weather settles in. Boaters and campers heading into the weekend should be prepared for scattered rain chances by Saturday, followed by noticeably cooler air through Sunday. Highs by the second half of the weekend may struggle to reach the low 70s, with overnight lows dipping into the 50s.

Residents are advised to monitor updated forecasts as rain coverage and timing may affect weekend travel and outdoor plans. Cooler-than-normal temperatures are likely to stick around into early next week.

Five Day Forecast for Gaylord, Michigan

  • Wednesday: Clouds decreasing, 73–80°
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny and warmer, 77–84°
  • Friday: Dry early, storms possible late, 78–85°
  • Saturday: Rain chances, 72–81°
