Chicago, Illinois – Patchy fog and a few sprinkles could slow down early commutes around Chicago through Wednesday morning as a weak disturbance brushes the region. While the threat is minimal, residents in northern Illinois should be prepared for reduced visibility and damp roads overnight and into early Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, light showers may linger near the Lake Michigan shoreline, with a 20% rain chance forecast during the day Wednesday. Overnight lows will dip into the low to mid-60s, and skies will remain mostly cloudy until conditions clear by Thursday.

Cooler, less humid air will dominate the remainder of the week, offering a welcome break from August’s typical heat. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday will range from the upper 70s to low 80s, with slightly cooler temperatures expected near the lake. Sunshine returns in full force by Friday, with highs climbing back into the mid-80s.

No severe weather is expected, but motorists are advised to watch for foggy patches and wet pavement, especially before sunrise Wednesday.

The next chance of rain appears limited, with dry weather holding through Saturday. Updates will follow if additional advisories are issued.

Five-Day Forecast for Chicago, IL:

  • Wednesday: Slight chance of showers early, high 76–82°F, low 59–67°F
