Bismarck, N.D. – Drivers across central and eastern North Dakota face a challenging Monday morning commute as dense fog blankets the region, cutting visibility to as little as a quarter mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, the dense fog advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. CDT for much of the state, including Burleigh, Ward, McLean, McHenry, and Stutsman counties. The advisory also extends through the James River Valley and into southern counties such as Emmons, Logan, and LaMoure.

Cities including Bismarck, Minot, Jamestown, and Rugby are reporting heavy fog with rapidly changing visibility. Highway officials urge drivers to reduce speeds, keep headlights on, and leave extra distance between vehicles to avoid accidents. The North Dakota Highway Patrol noted that rural roads and low-lying areas could see sudden drops in visibility, making conditions unpredictable.

Air travel at Minot International Airport and Bismarck Municipal may experience delays through mid-morning as fog continues to impact takeoffs and landings.

The advisory is set to expire by late morning as conditions gradually improve, but drivers should remain cautious until the fog lifts.
