Louisville, Ky. – Kentucky residents face another stretch of dangerous heat as temperatures climb into the upper 90s with heat indices well above 105° through Tuesday, keeping much of the state under oppressive humidity. The National Weather Service in Louisville warns the combination of heat and moisture could push some areas close to a 110° heat index, creating dangerous outdoor conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, isolated showers and storms this evening will fade, but another round may push in from central Indiana early Sunday morning. While these storms could briefly cool parts of the region, widespread relief is not expected until a weak cold front arrives Wednesday, bringing a higher chance of rain and slightly lower temperatures.

The hottest conditions will impact cities including Louisville, Bowling Green, Elizabethtown, and Lexington, where maximum heat index values could remain in the triple digits through midweek. Officials urge residents to avoid extended outdoor activity, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors as heat stress risks increase.

By Wednesday, storms tied to the incoming front may reduce temperatures closer to seasonal averages, though forecasters caution humidity will remain high. Heat advisories may be extended if conditions persist into late week.
