Phoenix, AZ – Phoenix residents will battle dangerous triple-digit temperatures through 8 p.m. Wednesday, with highs topping out near 109°F and “major heat risk” conditions across the Valley. The National Weather Service warns that prolonged exposure could lead to heat exhaustion or stroke, particularly for those without access to cooling.

According to the NWS Phoenix office, the Extreme Heat Warning covers the Northwest, Central, East, and Southeast Valley, including Glendale, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, and Chandler. Afternoon temperatures will range from 107°F to 111°F, with heat indexes pushing conditions into the hazardous range. Maricopa County residents can dial 2-1-1 to locate cooling centers, transportation, and water distribution sites.

Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor work during peak afternoon heat, reschedule strenuous activity to early morning or evening, and wear lightweight, loose clothing. Anyone showing signs of heat stroke should be moved to a cool, shaded place and emergency services called immediately.

While Thursday will remain hot near 108°F, clouds and a 40% chance of showers could bring slight relief by late afternoon.

Five Day Phoenix, AZ Forecast:

  • Wednesday: Sunny, extreme heat until 8 PM. High 109°F, low 89°F
  • Thursday: 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 AM. High 108°F, low 88°F
