According to the National Weather Service, rain and storms will become increasingly widespread through this evening, with the highest risks for excessive rainfall and localized flooding in interior and southwest Florida. Palmdale and Immokalee face rain chances above 85%, while Miami could see showers and storms through late afternoon. The entire region remains under a marginal risk for flooding, especially in low-lying and urban areas.
In East Central Florida, from Daytona Beach through Orlando and Melbourne, the chance of storms exceeds 80%. Frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds up to 45 mph could impact travel and outdoor plans. Residents are urged to hydrate, take breaks indoors, and move inside quickly if thunder roars.
Afternoon highs will reach the low 90s, but humidity will push heat indices above 105 in many cities. Power outages and traffic slowdowns are possible during the strongest storms.
