Morehead City, N.C. – Hot and stormy afternoons will define the week in Eastern North Carolina, with highs near 91°F and a daily chance of seabreeze-triggered thunderstorms through Thursday. Expect scattered downpours and muggy conditions from the coast to inland towns.

According to the National Weather Service in Morehead City, scattered showers and storms may begin as early as late morning and persist into the afternoon hours each day. Rain chances range from 35% to 55%, with the best chances midweek. Highs will climb into the upper 80s along the beaches and into the low 90s farther inland, while overnight lows stay in the mid-70s.

Areas like New Bern, Jacksonville, and Greenville should prepare for brief heavy rain, lightning, and localized gusty winds. Beachgoers in Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle will see highs near 88°F, but lightning threats may temporarily close access points.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, limit outdoor work during peak heat, and seek shelter during storms. Thunderstorm timing will remain unpredictable, but patterns will favor late morning into early evening.
