Little Rock, Ark. – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to track across Arkansas throughout Wednesday, bringing the highest chances of rainfall to the northern and western parts of the state, especially between noon and 9 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, scattered storms will begin near the Oklahoma border early Wednesday morning, with thunderstorm activity increasing across cities like Fayetteville, Fort Smith, and Harrison by midday. Rain chances rise to 91% in Fayetteville, 73% in Rogers, and 70% in Fort Smith. Little Rock faces a 45% chance of rain, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours.

Motorists on I-40 and I-49 should expect brief downpours and possible lightning, especially from 3 to 9 p.m., when storm cells become more widespread in the state’s central corridor. While southern Arkansas will see lower rain chances — just 24% in El Dorado and 21% in Monticello — isolated showers remain possible through the evening.

Residents are advised to keep phones charged, check weather apps before commuting, and avoid flooded low-water crossings. Though severe weather is not expected, gusty winds and localized downpours may still cause minor disruptions.

Rain chances continue into Thursday as an unsettled pattern settles in through the weekend.
