Boston, MA – Rain will return to Massachusetts and much of southern New England late Wednesday night into Thursday, with a steady increase in coverage expected through the weekend and a peak on Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, most locations across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island will see rain chances climb to 65–75% by Saturday afternoon. Light precipitation begins overnight Wednesday, with Thursday seeing probabilities jump to 40–65% from Worcester to New Haven by midday.
New Bedford and Newport could see early showers Thursday morning, while inland areas like Pittsfield and Springfield may stay drier until later in the day. By Friday, a short lull in rainfall is expected with lower probabilities across the region—before more widespread rain redevelops Friday night into Saturday.
Drivers should anticipate slick roads and potential delays, especially on I-95 and I-91 corridors. Residents are urged to check gutters, avoid low-lying flood-prone areas, and prepare for potential weekend disruptions to outdoor events.
Rain chances begin to drop off by Sunday, but isolated showers may linger into early next week. Additional advisories may be issued if Saturday’s rainfall intensifies or expands.
