Danbury, Conn. – A soggy weekend is in store for western Connecticut, with rain chances climbing to 80% in Danbury and Bridgeport by Saturday night, posing potential disruptions to travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service New York office, intermittent showers will begin Friday afternoon and intensify through the weekend. Saturday brings the highest likelihood for rainfall, with precipitation probabilities reaching 70–80% across much of Fairfield and New Haven counties by 6 p.m. Thunderstorms may accompany the rain during the afternoon and overnight hours.

In Danbury, the chance of rain surges from 25% Friday evening to 75% by midday Saturday, peaking at 80% during the evening. Bridgeport follows a similar trend, with a 60% chance by Saturday afternoon and sustained high probabilities into Sunday. Rainfall could reduce visibility and create slick roads on major routes including I-84 and the Merritt Parkway.

Residents are advised to limit non-essential travel during periods of heavy rain, check local alerts, and secure outdoor items that could be affected by wind gusts or soaking conditions. While Sunday will see slightly lower rain chances, lingering showers remain likely through the evening hours.

More updates are expected as the system moves through. Rain chances persist through late Sunday across southwestern Connecticut.
