Columbus, OH – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, with millions of residents at risk for potentially hazardous weather conditions through 7 p.m. EDT today.

The National Weather Service issued the watch for areas including Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and other cities across the region. The watch is valid until 7 p.m. this evening, as meteorologists predict the possibility of tornadoes, hail, and high winds.

According to the National Weather Service, the watch area includes approximately 8 million people, with numerous schools and hospitals in the affected zones. The primary threats include:

  • Tornadoes: A couple of tornadoes are possible.
  • Hail: Scattered hail, potentially up to the size of ping pong balls, could occur.
  • Winds: Gusts up to 75 mph are likely.

Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions as severe weather develops. A thunderstorm watch indicates that conditions are favorable for severe weather, but it does not mean that the storm is imminent. However, those in affected areas should remain alert for changing conditions.
