San Diego, CA – Morning fog and cloudy nights are returning across California’s major coastal cities this week, with visibility and travel impacts possible through at least Wednesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, areas including San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco will see patchy fog develop overnight and linger through mid-morning hours. Visibility could drop below one mile before 11 a.m., especially in low-lying areas and near the coast.
In Los Angeles, patchy fog is expected each morning through Wednesday, with daytime highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s. Winds remain light, but fog may impact early commutes on I-5, I-10, and the 101. San Diego faces similar patterns, with overnight cloud cover and fog lifting by midday. San Francisco will see patchy fog before 7 a.m. and mild, sunny afternoons in the upper 60s.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights in fog-prone zones, and allow extra time for morning travel. Those near the coast should prepare for damp conditions and cooler-than-average mornings.
Fog is expected to clear by late week, with sunnier skies and temperatures climbing into the high 60s and 70s by Friday across much of the state.
