Lake County, IL: Man Arrested for Child Pornography Possession in Zion, Some Including Infants

Zion, IL – A 55-year-old Zion man was arrested after authorities discovered a cache of child pornography on his electronic devices, some of which involved infants. Michael J. Guerra was apprehended by Lake County Sheriff’s Detectives on charges of possessing numerous videos of child pornography.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, detectives acted on a tip from an online cloud storage platform that flagged a device in Lake County uploading child pornography. Their investigation led them to a residence in the 3200 block of Enoch Avenue, Zion. A search warrant was obtained and executed on April 11, 2025, with assistance from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office Cybercrime Unit.

During the search, detectives seized multiple electronic devices that contained the illegal content. Guerra was charged with two felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography, a Class 2 felony. Additional charges may follow as further forensic analysis of Guerra’s devices is conducted.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg emphasized the successful operation and his office’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals. Guerra remains in custody at the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
