London, KY – A flood watch remains in effect for parts of Kentucky as excessive rainfall continues to threaten the region through Sunday morning. The National Weather Service issued the warning on Thursday, April 3, 2025, urging residents in several counties to prepare for potential flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rains could result in widespread flooding of rivers, creeks, and streams. The watch covers areas across east central, northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky, including cities like London, Somerset, Mount Vernon, Jackson, and Morehead.

The current forecast predicts rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches across the affected areas by Sunday. A stalled frontal boundary over the Ohio Valley is expected to keep showers and thunderstorms persistent through the weekend, exacerbating the potential for flooding. As a result, residents living in low-lying or flood-prone areas are advised to remain vigilant.

Officials urge the public to stay informed with updated weather reports and be prepared to act if flood warnings are issued. For more information on flood safety, visit the National Weather Service website.
