Wayne County, IN — A crash involving three semi-trucks, including one hauling ginger ale, shut down westbound I-70 near the 145-mile marker Sunday afternoon.

According to the Wayne County Indiana Sheriff’s Office, the wreck spilled thousands of cans across the highway, forcing a complete closure of I-70 West. Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area and reroute using US 35/State Road 38 to State Road 1. Cleanup efforts remain ongoing as of Sunday evening.

The crash created significant delays, with emergency responders and cleanup crews working to remove debris and damaged vehicles. Images from the scene show a crushed blue cab wedged between two trailers and soda cans strewn across multiple lanes.

Officials have not yet released information on injuries or the cause of the crash. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that detours are expected to remain in effect into the evening.

Motorists traveling through eastern Indiana are advised to check traffic apps and official updates before heading west on I-70. Given the scale of the cleanup, delays could stretch for several hours. Drivers should also prepare for additional congestion on detour routes.
