Arkansas Tornado Update: Two More Twisters Confirmed in Poinsett and Craighead Counties

Jonesboro, AR – The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed two additional tornadoes from the March 14-15 storm system, bringing the total number of tornadoes in the Mid-South from this event to 10—nearly double the total for all of 2024.

According to the NWS Memphis office, the newly identified tornadoes touched down in Poinsett County and Craighead County early on March 15. Both were rated EF-0, the lowest rating on the Enhanced Fujita scale, with estimated peak wind speeds of 80 mph and 70 mph, respectively.

The Poinsett County tornado tracked 2.82 miles, reaching a maximum width of 50 yards, while the Craighead County tornado covered 1.41 miles with a similar width. No major injuries or fatalities have been reported from these tornadoes.

Officials urge residents to remain weather-aware as spring storm season continues. Emergency management teams are assessing damage, and local authorities remind residents to review safety plans for future severe weather events.
