Green Bay, WI – A powerful winter storm is bringing heavy snowfall and strong winds to Wisconsin, with warnings in effect across multiple counties until early Thursday morning. Some areas could see up to 8 inches of snow, along with wind gusts reaching 45 mph.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay, the storm will impact Florence, Forest, Marathon, Portage, Wood, Langlade, Menominee, and Oconto counties, among others. Snowfall rates of an inch per hour are expected through the afternoon and evening, with widespread blowing snow reducing visibility. In Door County, gusts up to 45 mph could lead to drifting snow and dangerous road conditions.

Travel is strongly discouraged, as roads may become impassable due to snow accumulation and fallen tree limbs. Power outages are possible due to heavy snow and strong winds. Residents are advised to keep emergency supplies in their vehicles and check local road conditions by calling 511.

The winter storm warning remains in effect until 1 AM CDT for most areas, with Door County under the alert until 7 AM Thursday.
