Omaha, NE – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of Nebraska, Kansas, and South Dakota, with strong winds and snowfall impacting travel conditions. The advisory is in place until 3 a.m. CST Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, areas in Nebraska, including Butler, Colfax, Jefferson, Saline, and Seward counties, will see additional snowfall of up to a half-inch, with wind gusts reaching 65 mph. The strong winds are creating hazardous driving conditions due to blowing snow, reduced visibility, and the potential for tree damage and power outages.

In Kansas, the advisory covers east-central counties such as Morris, Lyon, Osage, Franklin, Coffey, and Anderson. Up to an inch of additional snow is expected, with high winds also posing a risk of tree damage and slick roads.

Parts of west-central Minnesota and northeast South Dakota, including Traverse, Big Stone, Roberts, Clark, Codington, Grant, Hamlin, and Deuel counties, are also under the advisory. Winds in these areas are reaching up to 50 mph, with snowfall creating treacherous travel conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

Authorities urge residents to slow down and use caution when traveling. The latest road conditions can be obtained by dialing 511 in the respective states.
