Springfield, MO – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of southeast Kansas and central, southwest, and west-central Missouri until 9 a.m. Wednesday, with snow and strong winds creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Springfield, affected areas include Bourbon County in Kansas, as well as multiple counties in Missouri, including Benton, Morgan, Vernon, St. Clair, Hickory, Camden, Pulaski, and more. Snow accumulations of up to 1.5 inches are expected, with wind gusts reaching between 45 and 60 mph, significantly reducing visibility to a half mile or less at times.

Additional advisories have been issued for Miller, Maries, and Phelps counties in Missouri, where similar snowfall amounts and winds up to 50 mph will persist through the morning.

Slippery road conditions, especially on elevated roadways, could impact the morning commute. Strong winds may cause tree damage and power outages. Motorists are advised to slow down and exercise caution while traveling.

For updated road conditions, travelers can call 511 in Kansas or 1-888-275-6636 in Missouri. More information is available through the National Weather Service at weather.gov/sgf and on their social media channels.
