Beaver County, UT – The Little Twist Fire has burned 2,398 acres and is currently 10% contained. Firefighters have implemented burnout operations on the north and northwest perimeters of the fire, aided by favorable weather conditions.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, these efforts have helped establish a black line down the Little Twist Trail Ridge. Crews had previously constructed an indirect handline in preparation for securing that area of the fire. Hot and dry conditions are expected today, with a chance of afternoon and evening precipitation. Increased humidity and higher winds are possible.
If conditions permit, crews will continue firing operations while utilizing aerial resources for reconnaissance and bucket work. The area closure order remains in place to ensure the safety of both firefighters and the public. Smoke will continue to be visible for several weeks from surrounding areas, including I-15, I-70, Hwy-89, and Hwy-20.
The U.S. Forest Service has noted that Little Reservoir, Tushar Lakeside, and Kents Lake Campgrounds remain open to the public for camping. Fire personnel are working diligently to manage the blaze and protect nearby communities. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
