Nashville, TN – A Nashville man died from severe head injuries sustained while attempting to break up an argument at the Top Golf parking lot on Cowan Street late Saturday night.

According to Metro Nashville Police, Dahal Umesh, 41, was attending a concert with members of Nashville’s Nepali community when a dispute erupted, leading some individuals to the parking lot. Umesh, attempting to defuse the argument, was punched, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete. While on the ground, he was kicked in the head.

Homicide Unit detectives took over the investigation on Monday due to Umesh’s critical condition. Bishal Rai, 26, was identified as the alleged attacker. Specialized Investigations Division detectives arrested Rai at his Antioch residence on Bombadil Lane Monday evening, charging him with aggravated assault. This charge is expected to be upgraded to criminal homicide following Umesh’s death. Rai is being held without bond pending a hearing.
