Licking County, OH – A Licking County child abuse investigation led to the arrest of a southwest Ohio man after authorities received information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding allegations involving a child victim.
According to the Licking County Sheriff’s Office, detectives were contacted by the FBI on Friday, June 12, regarding allegations that an individual in Licking County had allegedly sexually abused a biological child and produced child sexual abuse material.
Investigators immediately launched a joint investigation involving the FBI and local authorities. Through investigative efforts, detectives identified the suspect as Kevin Daniel Kauff, 25, of Jamestown, Ohio.
As the investigation progressed, authorities identified the child victim and located the residence where the alleged abuse was occurring. Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Kauff with one count of rape.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Kauff was later located in Greene County through a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies. He was arrested by FBI agents and local authorities before being transported to Licking County.
Officials said Kauff is currently being held pending further court proceedings.
Investigators emphasized that the case remains active and in its early stages. Authorities noted that additional charges may be forthcoming as detectives continue reviewing evidence collected during the investigation.
The Licking County Sheriff’s Office credited the FBI, the United States Attorney’s Office, the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol for assisting with the investigation and arrest.
Because the case involves a child victim, authorities have not released additional identifying information.
As with all criminal cases, the charge against Kauff is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
