Zion, Illinois – A Zion man faces multiple felony charges after detectives allegedly discovered hundreds of child sexual abuse videos in his home.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, detectives began investigating after receiving a tip from an internet provider indicating a device in Lake County had allegedly uploaded suspected child pornography.
Investigators traced the activity to a residence in the 1800 block of Galilee Avenue in Zion, authorities said. Detectives later obtained a search warrant and conducted a search of the home on March 12, 2026, with approval from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office.
During the search, detectives allegedly found hundreds of videos of child sexual abuse, including videos involving children under the age of 13 and some described as toddlers, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities identified the suspect as Amaury Torralva, 36, who is listed as a registered sex offender following a previous child pornography conviction in DuPage County. Officials said Torralva was on parole at the time of the investigation.
Torralva was arrested and transported to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. Prosecutors approved 10 counts of possession of child pornography (enhanced due to prior conviction), each a Class 1 felony, according to investigators. Officials said additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
Sheriff John D. Idleburg said investigators remain focused on identifying victims and pursuing others who exploit children online.
Torralva remains in custody at the Lake County Jail pending an initial court hearing. Prosecutors intend to seek a petition to detain him while the case proceeds.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
