Riverton, WY – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains, effective from 2 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.
Snowfall is expected to impact the region, with accumulations of 4 to 6 inches anticipated over mountain passes. Higher terrain areas may see localized totals of up to 8 inches. Affected areas include Teton Pass and Togwotee Pass, where slick conditions are expected to make travel hazardous.
According to the NWS, snowfall will begin Friday afternoon, intensifying through the evening and tapering off by Saturday morning. Travelers should prepare for delays and use extra caution on mountain roads.
Drivers can find updated road conditions through the Wyoming Department of Transportation at wyoroad.info. Additional snowfall forecasts, including graphical depictions, are available on the NWS Riverton website at weather.gov/riw/winter.
Residents and visitors are advised to plan accordingly and avoid unnecessary travel during the advisory period.
