Jackson, WY – A major winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions to western Wyoming from Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton, a Winter Storm Warningis in effect from 1 p.m. Thursday to 11 a.m. MST Saturday for the Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains, Salt River and Wyoming Ranges, Jackson Hole, and Star Valley. Snowfall totals between 8 inches and 3 feet are expected, with the highest amounts in mountainous regions.

Key Forecast Details:

Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains: 1 to 2 feet, locally up to 3 feet at higher elevations.

Jackson Hole and Star Valley: 8 to 12 inches expected.

Upper Green River Basin (Pinedale area): 4 to 8 inches, increasing to 8 to 14 inches near Bondurant.

Winds: Gusts up to 40 mph could create blowing snow and whiteout conditions.

Travel Impacts & Precautions

Travel will be very difficult to impossible in some areas, especially on Teton and Togwotee Passes. The storm is expected to impact Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes across western Wyoming.
