Pueblo, CO – A significant winter storm is set to impact Colorado’s high-elevation regions, with heavy snow and strong winds expected from Thursday evening through Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, areas including the Eastern San Juan Mountains, Upper Rio Grande Valley, and Eastern Sawatch Mountains could see between 10 and 30 inches of snow. The heaviest accumulations will occur on south and southwest-facing slopes. Wind gusts may reach 50 mph, creating blowing and drifting snow.

Travel conditions will deteriorate rapidly, particularly around Wolf Creek Pass, South Fork, Creede, and Cumbres Pass. Officials warn that commutes on Friday morning and evening could be hazardous or even impossible in some areas.

Residents and travelers are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential road closures. Those in affected areas should carry emergency supplies, avoid unnecessary travel, and check road conditions before heading out.
