Wyoming – A crisp, star-filled dawn stretches over the Wind River Basin as pale light glances off frosty rooftops and a calm west-southwest breeze drifts across Highway 26. The air feels cool but steady, and the early stillness hints at a break before winds strengthen and the next November system approaches. Residents should prepare for a warm and breezy Friday before a colder, unsettled pattern returns next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, today stays sunny with highs near the upper 60s across Fremont County. The air warms quickly after sunrise, making this an ideal window for outdoor work, errands, and any early Thanksgiving travel planning. Models show a breezy Friday ahead with southwest winds reaching 16 mph and gusts near 24 mph along open stretches of the basin.

According to WYDOT, drivers should watch for crosswinds Friday afternoon, especially near Crowheart, Kinnear, and exposed segments of Highway 26 and 789. Loose debris, unsecured trailers, and high-profile vehicles may feel the gusts as the atmosphere ramps up ahead of the approaching change.

Saturday remains warm and mostly sunny before clouds thicken late. According to NWS Riverton, shower chances rise Sunday night with a 30 percent chance of rain and snow as colder air filters in. A stronger push arrives Monday morning with another 30 percent chance of showers, mainly rain early but possibly mixing with snow at higher elevations if temperatures slip toward freezing. No significant accumulation is expected in Riverton, yet a “winter tease” remains possible in the foothills.

Tuesday stays cool with isolated rain or snow showers and highs in the 40s. After all, November often flips quickly in Wyoming as the region transitions deeper into early winter.
