Riverton, WY – A late-season snow system is bringing fresh accumulations across several Wyoming mountain ranges, creating challenging travel conditions through Sunday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Bighorn Mountains Southeast, Absaroka Mountains, and Wind River Mountains East until 6 p.m. MDT Sunday. These areas are expected to receive an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow, making travel particularly difficult on mountain passes including Granite Pass, Powder River Pass, and South Pass.

Snowfall began overnight and is expected to taper off by Sunday evening, though early morning hours posed the greatest risk for hazardous driving. Elevations along east-facing slopes have seen steady snow, reducing visibility and increasing slick conditions.

Travelers are urged to slow down and use caution, particularly along high mountain routes. For current road conditions, the Wyoming Department of Transportation offers updates at wyoroad.info.
