Residents of southeastern Wyoming are being advised to prepare for the first widespread freeze of the season, expected to hit Monday and Tuesday mornings. With temperatures likely to drop below 32°F, the cold front may affect areas from Cheyenne to western Nebraska. Locals should take immediate precautions to protect plants, pets, and outdoor pipes from freezing conditions.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Cheyenne, the region has a 50-90% chance of freezing temperatures across Monday and Tuesday mornings. Current forecasts show low temperatures across southeast Wyoming, with highs only reaching the low 60s over the weekend before dropping sharply. The cold snap is expected to be most severe along major routes like Interstate 80 and Highway 85, where drivers are urged to exercise caution on potentially icy roads.
While Wednesday’s weather remains mild, with highs reaching 77°F, the forecast indicates a rapid decline as the week progresses. Thursday and Friday will bring clear skies and highs in the upper 70s, but the temperature is forecasted to plummet by Saturday night, with lows around 37°F. By Sunday, daytime temperatures will struggle to rise above the mid-60s, setting the stage for sub-freezing conditions at the start of the workweek.
