Cheyenne, WY – A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Carbon and Albany counties on Friday afternoon, as warmer temperatures and dry conditions are expected to combine, creating a potentially dangerous environment for wildfires. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne is advising residents to take precautions, especially regarding outdoor burning.

According to the US National Weather Service, relative humidity is expected to drop between 8 to 15% in the afternoon, with temperatures in the upper single digits to low teens. These dry conditions will be compounded by westerly wind gusts ranging from 30 to 35 mph, significantly increasing the risk of rapid fire spread should any blazes ignite.

The Fire Weather Watch is in effect from noon to 8 PM Friday, primarily affecting portions of southeast Wyoming. Residents are strongly advised to avoid any outdoor burning activities, as even small sparks could result in significant fires under these conditions.

The weather service emphasizes that critical fire weather conditions are likely, urging everyone to stay alert and take all necessary precautions to prevent wildfires. Be safe and help ensure Wyoming remains fire-free this weekend.
